Aerial Abstractions
Abbott’s abstract aerial views combine shapes, colors, and patterns seen from an aerial vantage point creating a fascinating abstract composition that can ignite the imagination. The geometric layout of city streets hides under the organic patterns of the meandering flows of rivers, and lakes. The juxtaposition of familiar elements in unfamiliar arrangements challenges our perceptions and prompts us to contemplate the intricate beauty of our planet. Combined with the use of items saved from the waste stream, Her work helps the viewer feel calm and smile because of the use of unconventional materials.

Milky Way Series
This is the 2-D work that came from my pondering of home as I moved from a home I had lived in for 10 years to having two residences. I started to think about a sense of place and two new neighborhoods that were unknown to me. I started to think about where I was in the universe and came to a calming sense that we are really all under the stars. My home near Hartsel has a view of the milky way on a regular basis at night and I decided that this would be my new final layer on the new body of work in a new place. Just a twist on my abstract landscapes, abstract aerial view and just abstract… The structural soft rectangles seem to be sticking with me at this point.
